There are lots of ways for athletes to compete in track and field, from team-based league fixtures to individual championship events and open graded meetings. Check out all the dates on our Competition Calendar.

This page explains the main competition opportunities available to CAAC athletes and how to get involved.


Leagues

League competitions are team-based events where athletes are selected to represent CAAC against other clubs. These fixtures are a key part of the summer season and are a great way to experience competition in a supportive, team environment.

Championships

District (CAAC are in the East District), and National medals are up for grabs in various championship events, in which athletes compete against others in their age group. Check out all the championship dates on our Competition Calendar.

Members should enter these events individually, and will need an active scottishathletics membership to compete in championship events.

CAAC are happy to reimburse the entry costs for our athletes competiting in National Championship events – just let us know!


Open Graded Meets

Open Graded Meetings provide the opportunity to go for that PB, with athletes lining up in races/events with others of a similar standard (as opposed to separating races by age group).

Other Competitions

  • Superteams: a multi-event format for the U12 age group, designed as an introduction to competition. The next Superteams events will be in Spring 2027.
  • CAAC Club Championships: Held annually for all club members, under review for 2026, due to track closure at Saughton.
