CAAC is volunteer-led. Every training session, competition, social event and athlete success is made possible by people giving a little of their time to support the club.

Whether you’re a parent, athlete, former athlete, friend of the club or simply someone who enjoys helping others, we’d love to welcome you to our volunteer team. You don’t need any athletics experience for many of our roles, and we’ll provide the support and training you need to get started.

No matter how much time you can offer, whether it’s every week or just occasionally, you can make a real difference. If you are interested, please email Will, our Club Development Officer, at ctdevelopment@caac.org.uk

Volunteer Opportunities

Training Helper

A great role for parents or anyone who enjoys encouraging young people.

Training helpers work alongside our coaches to make sessions run smoothly. You might help set up equipment, assist with activities, keep athletes engaged, or help with timing and organisation during sessions.

No coaching experience is needed, and if you enjoy the role there’s an opportunity to progress into coaching with fully funded qualifications.

Typical commitment: One training evening per week (or as often as you’re available).

Athletics Coach

Help inspire the next generation of athletes.

Working alongside our coaching team, you’ll help plan and deliver enjoyable, inclusive training sessions that develop confidence, skills and a lifelong love of athletics.

Whether you’re completely new to coaching or have previous experience, we’ll support you through Scottish Athletics coaching qualifications and ongoing development.

Typical commitment: One or two training sessions each week.

Athletics Official

Competitions simply couldn’t happen without officials.

From field events and track judging to timekeeping and event management, there are lots of ways to get involved. We’ll help you find a role that suits your interests and provide training and qualifications through Scottish Athletics.

Whether you help at a few meetings each year or become a regular official, you’ll play a vital role in helping athletes compete safely and fairly.

Typical commitment: From a few competitions each season.

Communications & Media

Help tell the stories of our club.

We’re always looking for volunteers who enjoy writing, photography, social media or creating content. You could:

  • Write race reports for the website
  • Take photographs at competitions and club events
  • Help manage our social media channels
  • Share athlete achievements
  • Support updates to the club website

This role is flexible and can often be done from home.

Event & Competition Support

Our competitions and club events rely on volunteers behind the scenes.

You could help with registration, marshalling, setting up equipment, presentations, refreshments or general organisation. Even volunteering at one or two events each year makes a huge difference.

Social Events

Help bring our club community together, by helping to plan, organise and run events such as quiz nights, club ceilidh, and junior Christmas parties. We’re always open to new ideas too!

Whether you can help at one event or several, your support is always appreciated.

Administration & Professional Skills

Not every volunteer role happens on the track.

If you have experience in administration, finance, fundraising, IT, marketing, project management, design or any other professional skill, we’d love to hear from you. Many of these roles are flexible and can be done from home at times that suit you.

Interested?

If you’d like to find out more, we’d love to have an informal chat about how you could get involved.

Whether you’re looking to volunteer regularly or just lend a hand from time to time, there’s a place for you at CAAC.

Together, we can continue to provide a welcoming, inclusive and successful athletics club for our community.
