π§ About the Group
Run, Jump & Throw is CAACβs entry-level athletics group, designed to introduce young athletes to the sport in a fun and engaging way.
Sessions focus on developing fundamental movement skills through a wide range of activities, helping children build confidence, coordination, and a love of being active. Athletes are introduced to the core elements of athletics in a way that feels like play rather than structured training.
The coaching team places a strong emphasis on enjoyment and participation, creating a positive first experience of the sport that encourages long-term involvement. Sessions are also supported by older junior athletes from the club, who help create a welcoming environment while taking their first steps into coaching.

π What Training Looks Like
Sessions are energetic, varied, and built around games and activities. Athletes take part in:
- Running-based games and relays
- Jumping activities (e.g. hopping, bounding, simple jumps)
- Throwing skill development using age-appropriate equipment to learn safe technique.
- Agility, balance, and coordination exercises
- Team-based challenges and fun competitions
Activities are designed to keep athletes moving, engaged, and learning without feeling pressured or overly structured.
π Competition & Opportunities
At this stage, the focus is on fun and participation rather than formal competition. Athletes may have opportunities to take part in:
- Team-based competitions (e.g. Superteams)
- CAAC Club Champs and other friendly events
These experiences help build confidence and introduce the idea of competition in a positive and supportive way.
π Progression & Pathway
Run, Jump & Throw is the first step in the CAAC athlete pathway.
As athletes develop their skills and confidence, they progress into the Junior Squad (ages 10β14), where they begin to experience a wider range of athletic events in a more structured setting.
This gradual progression ensures athletes build strong foundations before moving into more formal training and competition.
π§βπ€βπ§ Culture & Atmosphere
The group is fun, inclusive, and full of energy.
Sessions are designed to be enjoyable and engaging, helping children build friendships while developing confidence in their abilities. Coaches create a supportive environment where every child can take part, regardless of experience or ability.
The focus is on making athletics something children look forward to each week.
