π§ About the Group
The Craic Squad is CAACβs most relaxed and social adult training group, designed for runners who want to enjoy the benefits of running without the pressure of performance-focused training.
Led by coach Lindsay, this group is ideal for those who have built a base level of running fitness, typically being able to comfortably run 5km and are looking to maintain consistency in a supportive and enjoyable environment.
While the emphasis is on enjoyment and participation, many members still take part in local races, parkruns, and club events as a way to challenge themselves in a fun and informal setting.
If youβre not yet at the stage of running comfortably for this distance, weβd recommend starting with our Couch to 5km programme before joining this group.

π What Training Looks Like
Training is simple, flexible, and group-focused.
Runs are usually between 5β8km and are done at a steady, conversational pace, with regrouping or short breaks as needed.
The focus is on running together, building consistency, and enjoying the experience rather than following a strict training plan.
π Progression & Pathway
The Craic Squad provides an accessible step into club running, as well as a long-term option for those who prefer a more relaxed approach.
Some athletes use the group as a stepping stone into more structured training, moving into the Senior Endurance Squad as their confidence, pace, and training goals develop.
Others choose to remain in the Craic Squad, valuing the balance of activity, flexibility, and social connection it offers.
π§βπ€βπ§ Culture & Atmosphere
The group is friendly, inclusive, and social at its core.
Thereβs a strong emphasis on encouragement, enjoyment, and shared experience, making it easy for new members to feel welcome. Sessions are relaxed and supportive, with plenty of ‘Craic’ and conversation along the way.
