Balbardie Park, Bathgate | Saturday 17 January 2026

CAAC were out in force at Balbardie Park for the third and final fixture of the East District Cross Country League, with 41 athletes competing across the age groups on a demanding winter course.

With muddy underfoot conditions testing balance throughout the afternoon, it was a classic cross-country challenge, and one that CAAC athletes rose to, with some excellent individual performances.

Standout Performances

  • Alice Mourao delivered one of the performances of the day, finishing 3rd in the U20 Women’s race over 5.8km. A controlled, confident run saw her average just under 4:00/km on a tough course.
  • In the same race, Kirsten Maxwell produced a strong senior performance to place 7th in the Senior Women, leading home a deep CAAC squad.
  • Fraser Shaw secured 9th place in the U15 Boys and Callie Logan ran an excellent race in the U15 Girls, finishing 10th in a competitive field.
  • In the Senior Men’s race, Aaron Hoyle was first CAAC athlete home, placing 16th of 79 over the challenging 8.8km course.
  • Iain Hutchinson stood out in the Masters Men, finishing an outstanding 6th place in a field of 130 runners.

Strength in Depth

CAAC athletes were represented from U11 through to Masters, underlining the club’s depth and development across all age groups, with a total of 17 female and 24 male competitors.

The U11 and U13 athletes gained valuable league experience, tackling the course with enthusiasm and resilience, while large Senior and Masters fields demonstrated the club’s commitment to league competition.
