Stewards Wanted
Hi. Gorgie Dalry Gala Day is back bigger and better this year with a week long programme of activities. Full details can be found at http://thegd.org.uk/thegala/
Apparently the Gala used to have a fun run years ago so we decided to reinstate it but make it as accessible as possible for everyone, which is why we are calling it 'Strive for 5' and not a fun run. People are welcome to walk and push buggies etc. Unfortunately the publicity has been held up as we are still waiting for permission from the council but we have been told this should be fine. As soon as it is confirmed, entry forms will be made available on the website.
This event really isn't for serious runners like CAAC but we are looking for stewards who have a bit of experience of races/events and we would be very grateful if anyone was willing to help out. Please let me know if you are interested in giving a little of your time to this community event. We need Stewards to meet at McLeod Street at 9am for a briefing then to get into positions for a 10am start.
The course is 'around 5k' and starts at McLeod Street, goes along Russell Road (yes Nick, pedestrians can still get through), along Roseburn Park then the water of Leith, around Pansy Walk then up Balgreen Road (over Stevenson Road - our main concern) then along Gorgie Road, down Wheatfield Road and along Wheatfield Place then through Tynecastle Stadium and out at McLeod Street then round to Murieston Park where the finish line is and where the Gala Day will start after everyone has finished.
We are not timing people but will just have a clock at the finish line for people to note their time.
