Portobello Beach Race 2017

The Portobello Beach Race Will Take Place On Sunday, June  11th, 2017 at 10:00 am. Entries are now open at Entry Central

Registration takes place in the garden of the Dalriada Bar on the promenade.  (http://dalriadabar.co.uk/) The blue line marks the course along the promenade.  The yellow line is run on sand.   The race starts in front of the Dalriada and goes along the prom until the swim centre where runners access the beach by the slipway.

Course Map   Note: To complete the race you may have to negotiate wooden groynes –  so be prepared to either vault or get your feet wet!

Prizes will be awarded for:

First, second and third Open Male and Open Female.

First Vet, First Supervet,  male and female.

Charity: They will be raising funds for local charity Richmond’s Hope.

FACILITIES

Parking: There is parking available along the main road at Joppa beyond the pumping station and adjacent streets, allow about 10 minutes from the Joppa end of the prom to registration. 

Toilets: Toilet facilities are available in the Dalriada Bar.

Changing: At the Dalriada Bar.

First Aid Services: Will be supplied again this year by the St Andrews Ambulance Association. .

Your Safety and Third Parties: Runners are responsible for their own safety and should take care during the race   Also remember that in good weather the promenade can be particularly busy with children and cyclists.

Race Rules: The Porty Beach Race will be run under UK Athletics Rules, and is a Scottish Athletics permit event. UK Athletics Rules for Competition are downloadable from  http://www.uka.org.uk/competitions/rules/.

Age Limit: For the Porty Beach RaceParental or Guardian permission will be requested for runners under 18 years old taking part. Under UK Athletics Rules the minimum age limit is 16 years old, on the day of the race.

The race is limited to 200 entries.  Early booking via Entry Central is recommended.  In the event of places being available on race day you will be able to enter at registration, but come as early as you can to avoid disappointment..

(Cash only, no cheques please).
