I'm sure a lot of regulars at the club will remember Scott and Ruth Williamson who regularly ran for CAAC a few years ago. In fact they met through the club, eventually marrying and going on to have a wee girl Anna.
Tragically, just before Christmas, they were faced with the devestating news the Ruth had Motor Neurone Disease. She's just 36 years old. Ruth's illness is terminal and they are now trying to enjoy what time they have together while it is still physically possible for Ruth.
Scott, friends and family are going to be running the Edinburgh marathon in May and are trying to raise as much money as possible for MND. It would be great if you could help them smash their target.
Read Scotts story here. And if you could make a donation - brilliant!
As we are nearly at the end of the cross country apart from the Nationals I thought it would be a good idea to think a bit further on leading up to the road race season in Spring / Summer.
Gartmorn 6 on 11th March --- this is a 6 mile trail race up through some muddy woods onto the reservoir path, loop around the reservoir and back through the woods. Can be tough if muddy. Great food after in the village hall.
I intend taking a cross country training session on Sunday 14th January at Holyrood park meeting at 9.30am on Holyrood Park Road opposite the commie pool. This is a chance to test yourself out on the same course as the Inter Districts and International x/country runners who will have churned up the course enough for us hardy CAAC runners. Session should last about 1hr and will involve a jog down the grass to the course, a couple of loops ( maybe 3 ) and then return via Hunters Bog back to the cars. We could go for a coffee somewhere after it ?
