First of all, Happy New Year everyone!! May 2010 be another successful year for CAAC!
Being the Xmas holidays, I am back down South in my native land, and of course couldn't pass the time without a few races thrown in.
On December 28th, I took part in the Fuller's Pub to Pub race, starting at the Ship and Bell Pub in Horndean (my hometown) and running to the Red Lion in Charlton (needless to say, I was the only CAACer in this!). An out and back course, 7 miles in total, with a fair bit of up and down. The route was along country lanes (only a bit icy in places) and with some beautiful Hampshire countryside to admire along the way. Although there are no official results on the website, my results were as follows:
Position: 5th woman
Time: 51mins 54.
There was also a team prize (one man and one woman paired at random and fastest combined team wins). I was fortunate to be paired with a speedy man, and between us we won first prize! A bottle of mead wine for me, and beer for my partner. Not a bad bonus.
Then today (New Year's Day) I ran the Bushy Park parkrun, New Year's day run! I ran this one last year and it's a lovely, flat scenic course. I felt good (despite the wine, champagne and whatever else from last night!) and managed to get a sub 20 minute, 19:58, which I was really pleased with. It was enough to take 1st woman too, so an extra good start to the year. Full results are here: http://www.parkrun.org.uk/bushy/Results.aspx
I think my 2010 record may be beaten tomorrow though at the regular Saturday Bushy Park race, as a lot of top runners live in the Richmond area. Oh well, I'll basque in the glory for today at least!
