Coniston 14
I have entered the Coniston 14 http://www.coniston14.co.uk/ It's on Saturday March 31st at 11am. The website describes it as the following
"The Coniston 14 is probably the most beautiful road race in Britain. Each year it attracts some 1600 runners and has a reputation for being one of the best organised small races in the country"
Fellow runner Gareth from Portobello has expressed an interest in doing it, but thought I'd see if anyone else in CAAC fancied a trip to the Lakes. I haven't worked out the logistics yet, but there is a youth hostel in Coniston, so may be an option for a few people to get in there, and possibility of a bit of a walk in the Lakes the next day.
Anyway, if you're interested, let me know...

This is the same weekend as the national road relays for those of you who normally do that.

For those not doing the Road Relays that weekend this may still be of interest.
Myself, Susan, Ruth, Scott and Gareth (from Porty) are doing this race on March 31st. We have a hostel booked in Hawkshead just 4 miles from the start. We have a 6 bed room, so there is one bed spare. Cost is about £32 for the 2 nights (Friday and Saturday). There are still places for the race: http://www.coniston14.co.uk/introduction.php
Plan is to drive down Friday evening, race on Saturday, a few drinks in the pub Saturday night, then hillwalking on Sunday (or there is apparently a trail race on the Sunday which Gareth might do), and then drive back Sunday evening. If you're interested please let me know by replying to this post.

Echo Steven's comments. I loved Coniston would definitely go back. As a further recommendation we had a great, 'big' breakfast here http://www.meadowdore.com/. Sitting outside looking up to the Old Man. Cracking!
